OGDEN — Ogden police announced Thursday the arrest of a person of interest in connection with a fatal grocery store robbery on Feb. 28.

The juvenile male suspect is the same person detained by police on Tuesday in connection with the killing of 65-year-old Ogden grocery store owner Satnam Singh, police said.

Singh was working at Super Groceries on Sunday when a male walked in just before midnight. Police say the two had a short conversation before the male shot and killed Singh.

Police are not releasing the suspect's identity because he is a juvenile. The suspect is being charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery, according to a police statement.

"Criminal cases that involve juvenile arrestees are subject to different rules and legal considerations," read a statement from Ogden Police.

The suspect is currently in a juvenile detention center.

"This incident has been shocking and tragic for our community," read the statement. "Much effort and many hours have been expended in the pursuit of justice for Mr. Singh and his family."

Police released surveillance video Monday afternoon showing the suspect wearing a blue surgical mask, black gloves and a gray Oakland Raiders hoodie. The video showed the male, who appeared to be between 16 and 25 years old, entering the store, then looking through one of the aisles with a few items before approaching the counter.

Officials said members of the community submitted information and video to help the investigation.

"It is inspiring to see people acknowledge the impact Mr. Singh made in their lives, and a reminder that we all can do the same," officials said.

Ogden Police detectives, the OPD Area Tactical Analysis Center, Weber County Crime Scene Investigation, the Weber County Homicide Task Force and the Weber County Attorney's Office all assisted in the investigation.
