OGDEN — Ogden police announced on Tuesday that detectives have detained a person of interest in connection to the Sunday night killing of grocery store owner 65-year-old Satnam Singh.

Singh was working at his store, Super Groceries, located at 675 N. Monroe Blvd when around 11:50 p.m. a man walked in, according to police. Ogden police said that Singh and the man spoke for a short period of time before the suspect shot the victim.

In a press release Ogden police said that the investigation is active and ongoing. The release also stated that further information would not be released to "allow for a through and complete investigation that is focused on ensuring justice for Mr. Singh and his family."

The police released surveillance footage Monday afternoon showing the suspected gunman wearing a blue surgical mask, black gloves, a gray Oakland Raiders hoodie, black sweat pants and dark colored shoes. He is believed to be between 16 and 25 years old. They did not indicate whether the person of interest and the suspect in the footage are the same individual.

Further details, including the identity of the person of interest, were not released.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact them, particularly if anyone has surveillance video on their doorbell cameras or security cameras, at 801-629-8228.
