SALT LAKE CITY — A 22-year-old man was killed on Saturday after he was pinned by the forklift he had been operating at 151 S. West Temple, said Salt Lake City police.

According to Salt Lake City Police detective Michael Ruff, around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday a group of people discovered that their coworker had been pinned by a forklift and a metal container. Ruff said that the man had gotten off the forklift he had been operating and that it had moved, pinning him against a metal container.

Ruff said that the coworkers called for help and that Salt Lake City police and the fire department responded to the scene. The man died from injuries sustained in the accident.

"This was just an unfortunate industrial accident," said Ruff.

Further information, including the identity of the man, was not released.
