DRAPER — Authorities have identified a man who died after a dump truck fell down an embankment at Geneva Rock on Tuesday.

The man was identified as Jared Payne, of West Jordan, according to a Wednesday news release from Lehi City officials.

According to Lehi Police Sgt. Bart Smith, Payne was driving the truck and was attempting to dump dirt near the edge of a pit at 15547 Minuteman Drive when the bank way gave out, causing the truck to roll down the embankment and land on its top. Another construction worker at the scene called the police around 1:15 p.m.

Other workers extricated Payne from the truck and attempted CPR until emergency personnel arrived, but Payne suffered severe head trauma and died at the scene, city officials said. According to officials, nobody else was involved in the accident.

Detectives from the Lehi City Police Department are investigating the crash, city officials said.
