PROVO — One person was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after police say that person was shot by a family member who mistook the person for an intruder.

The incident happened about 5:15 a.m. in a home near 1600 West and Center Street. A man shot another family member, an adult, whom he mistakenly believed was a burglar, according to Provo police. The victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Police have not said whether the victim is a man or a woman.

No other details about the shooting were released Tuesday, including where in the house the shooting took place, or what the shooter and victim were doing prior to the shot being fired.

No arrests have been made. Provo police were expected to release more information about the incident on Wednesday.
