SANPETE COUNTY — Residents are now safe to return to the Indian Ridge subdivision in Indianola after a fire on the Red Ridge mountain area forced evacuations.

The north Indian Ridge road will remain closed through the night.

The Sanpete County Sherriff reported a fire of over 10 acres Saturday around 6 p.m. By 7 p.m., the fire had grown to about 20 acres. A northern wind and terrain caused the fire to burn grass and brush in the area, according to the tweet.

About an hour after initial reports of the fire, officials tweeted "more favorable winds and air support are extremely helpful."

Fire officials have not announced any fire containment.
