Diamond Butte Fire estimated at 400 acres

Fire crews are working to protect one structure along, with a couple of outbuildings from a fire burning 32 miles south of St. George near Arizona.According to the Bureau of Land Management-Arizona Strip District, the fire, named the Diamond Butte Fire, has reached 400 acres and is moderate and creeping. Officials have determined it was started by lightning.Two Type 6 engines, a Type 4 engine, a Type 3 engine and a Type 3 helicopter are responding to the fire."Crews have made very good progress and are looking at getting around the fire in the next 24 hours," wrote BLM spokesperson Rachel Carnahan.There have been no evacuations or closures at this time.— Jen Riess, KSL.com

Fire closes portion of I-15 in Iron County

The east side of I-15 is closed due to a fire in Cedar City. Iron County Sheriff’s Office dispatch said fire crews will soon be closing the freeway in both directions.Officials do not know when the road will reopen. Additional information on the fire was not available.— Jen Riess, KSL.com

Baboon Fire grows to 300 acres

Utah fire officials updated the status of the Greenville and Baboon fires Sunday afternoon, both of which are burning in Beaver County on either side of Minersville.The Greenville Fire is now 50% contained has burned 1,800 acres; the Baboon Fire is 0% contained and burned up to 300 acres after having been reported just this morning.Both fires are believed to be lightning-caused. Additional firefighting resources are en route to the Baboon Fire, officials said.

East Fork Fire may burn for 'several weeks'

Fire officials gave an update Sunday morning on the East Fork Fire burning in the Ashley National Forest in Duchesne County.The fire is burning 2,556 acres and is 0% contained, officials said.The area in which the fire is burning has not seen a major fire in about 50 years, officials wrote in a news release, and "numerous standing dead trees throughout the basin limit where firefighters can safely engage in fire suppression actions.""Actions will be taken to protection critical infrastructure, private property, and other assets."Officials warned that the area is under a Red Flag Warning, indicating conditions that could lead to rapid fire spread. The East Fork Fire has led to the following closures and evacuations:

Closures — "The Ashley National Forest has an area closure in place for the safety of firefighters and the public. The High Uintas Wilderness Area west of the Lake Fork Trail [Forest Service Trail (FST) 061] and Highline Trail (FST 025) to the Ashley National Forest boundary. The Lake Fork Trail is not included in this closure. The Highline Trail is closed in sections within the closure area. The Blindstream Road [Forest Service Road (FSR) 135] is closed at the Forest boundary north of Hannah, Utah. The Rock Creek Road (FSR 134) will be closed at the intersection with FSR 198, the road to Lower Stillwater Ponds Picnic Area. "

Evacuations — "Evacuations are in place for Rock Creek, upper Blindstream, Moonlake Road, and Yellowpine Campground. The Duchasne County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of evacuations with assistance from firefighters and local Forest Service employees. Hunters, hikers, and others dispersed through the area are being located and advised of the current fire situation."

Baboon Fire estimated at 200 acres

Fire officials are estimating the Baboon Fire at 200 acres and 0% containment, up from 80 acres earlier Sunday morning.The fire is burning northwest of Paragonah and west of Minersville and was caused by lightning, officials said.The fire is not threatening any structures.

Officials give Greenville Fire update; still 5% contained

The Greenville Fire burning in Beaver County is still mapped at 1,800 acres and 5% containment, officials said Sunday morning, but bulldozers have built a line around most the blaze.State route 21 has reopened after being temporarily closed in both directions because of the fire.

Baboon Fire starts near Paragonah

A new fire has begun about 16 miles northwest of Paragonah, Iron County, according to the Great Basin Coordination Center.The Baboon Fire is estimated at 80 acres.
