9-acre Goldman Fire in Box Elder County 90% contained; 1 structure destroyed

The Goldman Fire, which began burning in Box Elder County earlier Thursday, had been 90% contained by fire crews by 8 p.m. Firefighters were able to stop the fire's spread at 9 acres. One structure was destroyed in the fire and no other structures were threatened by Thursday evening, fire officials reported.

41-acre Gardner Fire near Pine Valley 0% contained

A 41-acre fire burning 2 miles south of Pine Valley in Washington County remained 0% contained on Thursday evening, fire officials reported. The fire, which was burning within a few miles of the town on the Dixie National Forest, began Wednesday and its cause is under investigation.No evacuations had been ordered as of Thursday evening but if evacuations become necessary, officials said affected residents will be notified.

Cougar Fire near Cedar City 90% contained

The 476-acre Cougar Fire, which began burning 30 miles northwest of Cedar City on Sunday, had been 90% contained as of Thursday. The human-caused fire was burning through pinyon, juniper, sagebrush and grass, fire officials said. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation and no structures were threatened by the blaze Thursday. One heat-related injury was reported Thursday, fire officials said. A total of 150 personnel were assigned to fight the fire.

Growing 5-acre fire in Box Elder County threatens 1 structure

An estimated 5-acre wildfire in Box Elder County threatened one structure on Thursday afternoon, fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info.The blaze, dubbed the Goldman Fire, was burning near Rosette as of 2:30 p.m. Thursday and its cause was under investigation. Officials said the fire was growing as of Thursday afternoon.

Cowboy Fire in Sevier County now 10% contained

The Cowboy Fire, burning north of I-70 in the northeast corner of Sevier County, is 10% contained as of Thursday, state and federal fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info. The fire was measured at 223 acres, officials said. Fire activity picked up slightly overnight into Thursday, and there is potential for high winds today that may cause increased fire behavior, officials said. Six aircraft and two fire engines are currently assigned to the blaze, Utah Fire Info said.
