3 suspects sought in connection to Turkey Farm fire

State wildfire officials are searching for three suspects believed to be connected to the Turkey Farm road fire that ignited July 13 just north of St. George.The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands put out a photo of a vehicle believed to be connected to three teenage suspects who may have been responsible for the fire, officials said.Anyone who recognizes the vehicle is asked to call the tip line at (775) 355-5337.The investigation into the fire remains ongoing. The blaze covered as much as 12,000 acres before firefighters began to contain it Wednesday evening.The fire was 25% contained, according to the most recent update from Utah Fire Info.— Sean Walker, KSL.com

Allen Fire in Daggett County now 90% contained

The Allen Fire in Daggett County is now 90% contained, state and local fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info.Officials estimated the fire at 40 acres at around 6:30 p.m.Utah Fire Info tweeted that four hand crews are responding to the fire, securing containment lines and extinguishing hot spots.— Jen Riess, KSL.com

Big Hollow Fire in Wasatch County 22% contained

State and local fire officials reported through Utah Fire info the Big Hollow Fire is 22% contained at 418 acres."The firefighters worked hard today and did a great job of executing the plan and meeting the days objectives," read the tweet. "Weather certainly helped."— Jen Riess, KSL.com

New fire at the Avon Gun Range

Weber Fire District tweeted that it is responding to a grass fire at the Avon Gun Range.The fire began around 1:30 p.m. and has burned about an acre.Weber, Northview and Forest Service units have completely contained the fire.The cause is being investigated.— Jen Riess, KSL.com

New fire in Hyde Park Canyon

Cache County Sheriff's Office confirmed a wildfire in Hyde Park Canyon.Officials said the fire, named the Tree Hill Fire, started around 3 p.m. Friday and units are actively responding.The fire is not near any structures and hasn't caused evacuations.— Jen Riess, KSL.com

Fire restrictions order issued in northern Utah

The State Forester has issued a fire restrictions order in all of Box Elder, Cache, Rich, and Weber counties. Weber County Sheriff's Office said the order is in response to weather conditions with "the extremely dry vegetation conditions in northern Utah."The order prohibits:

Using open fires of any kind, except within the facilities designated for them in improved campgrounds, picnic areas, or home sites where running water is present.

Smoking outside of an enclosed vehicle, trailer, or building. Smokers can utilize developed recreation sites that are paved or free from dry vegetation.

Discharging any fireworks, tracer ammunition or other pyrotechnic devices including exploding targets.

Cutting, welding, or grinding metal in areas of dry vegetation.

Operating a motorcycle, chainsaw, ATV, or other small internal combustion engine without an approved and working spark arrestor.

Violation of the order is punishable by a fine up to $1,000 or 6 months in jail. The restrictions will be enforced by county law enforcement starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.Private lands within incorporated towns or city limits are not included in the order.— Jen Riess, KSL.com

Evacuations still in effect for Big Summit Fire in Iron County

Evacuations for the Hamlin Valley area of Iron County are still in effect due to the Big Summit Fire, officials said Friday.The fire started in Nevada, but crossed over the border into Utah. It is currently 8,602 acres and 10% contained, Nevada fire officials said. The Wilderness West Subdivision of Hamlin Valley is currently evacuated, officials said.

Big Hollow Fire grows to at least 500 acres, 0% containment

The Big Hollow Fire, burning just south of Daniel in Wasatch County, has grown to at least 500 acres and is 0% contained as of Friday morning, state fire officials said in a news release.It is believed to be human-caused.Mandatory evacuations were lifted for Little Sweden Road from 1200 East to Daniels Road late Thursday evening, but voluntary evacuations remain in effect in the same area because homes are still threatened there.Voluntary evacuations are in effect for Little Sweden Road from 1200 East to U.S. Highway 40, officials said.A total of 90 people, as well as nine fire engines and some fire aircraft, are currently assigned to fight the fire.
