'Precautionary' evacuations ordered at Big Hollow Fire

"Precautionary" evacuations have been ordered for some residents of Daniel in Wasatch County due to the growing Big Hollow Fire.Last estimated at 300 acres, fire officials said earlier Thursday the fire was moving toward the small town of Daniel. Now, officials say evacuations have been ordered for residents on Little Sweden Road.

Allen Fire half contained, Mountain Home Fire completely surrounded

Fire officials providing updates on various wildfires Thursday evening announced the Allen Fire is 50% contained in Daggett County and the Mountain Home Fire is 100% contained in Weber County.The Allen Fire is at 40 acres and not threatening any structures, fire officials said in tweets. The Mountain Home Fire is contained at 78 acres, and all resources have been released as an engine crew from the Ogden Ranger District continues to monitor the blaze.Meanwhile, the Turkey Farm Road Fire that has burned nearly 12,000 acres in Washington County is now 40% contained. It is not threatening any structures, officials said.

Big Hollow Fire moving toward Daniel, but 'natural control features' stand in way

The Big Hollow Fire, last estimated by fire officials at 80 acres, is moving toward the small town of Daniel in Wasatch County, but officials said no structures are threatened.Officials said in a tweet that "natural control features" like Daniels Creek stand between the blaze and communities. They also said fire activity is "minimal" as it advances slowly down a hill.

Big Hollow Fire now at 80 acres in Wasatch County

Fire officials now estimate the Big Hollow Fire at 80 acres, growing rapidly from previous estimates of 10 and 30 acres just an hour before.But officials say the fire is still not threatening any structures and no evacuations are necessary. The fire is human-caused, they said, and is under investigation.

New fire in Wasatch County

A new fire has begun in the Big Hollow area south of Heber City in Wasatch County.Wasatch County officials said no evacuations are in place and no structures are currently threatened, but asked locals to avoid the area while firefighters battle the blaze. It has burned about 10 acres so far, they said.Just before 6:30 p.m., fire officials estimated the blaze at 30 acres.

Duchesne County's Abbott Fire now 100% contained

The #AbbottFire in Duchesne County is 100 percent contained. An engine crew will monitor the fire for the next couple of days as a precaution.

20 homes evacuated in rural Iron County due to Big Summit Fire

Twenty homes in the Hamlin Valley area in western Iron County were evacuated overnight due to the Big Summit Fire.The blaze started in Nevada and spread into Utah, Nevada fire authorities said. It is 5,076 acres and 10% contained as of Thursday morning.The evacuated homes were in the Wilderness/Chokeberry area of Hamlin Valley, authorities said.Full containment is expected on the fire by Monday. The cause is unknown.

Pole Canyon Fire now 10% contained, no new growth overnight

The Pole Canyon Fire, burning near the White Hills subdivision in Utah County, is now 10% contained, authorities said Wednesday afternoon.The fire is 488 acres and was caused by a spark from some heavy equipment, according to the Unified Fire Authority.There was no new growth on the fire as of Thursday morning, authorities said. No structures are threatened.There are currently 100 people and two helicopters assigned to fight the blaze.
