MILLCREEK — Investigators were searching for the cause of a house fire Sunday that apparently started in or around the garage.
Fire crews were called to the home at 3381 S. 3175 East just before 1 p.m. where they found the attached garage fully engulfed in flames, said Unified Fire Authority spokesman Patrick Costin. The blaze consumed a Jeep parked in the garage.
“There was extensive fire damage to the house itself,” Costin said. “Half of the roof actually collapsed. Most of the main floor of the house was affected.”
In addition to Unified Fire, crews from Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake worked for about 40 minutes to douse the flames.
No one was inside the home when firefighters arrived, Costin said. The extent of the damage was still being assessed.
