SALT LAKE CITY — Demonstrators again assembled at Washington Square Park for the second straight night.
Shortly before 6 p.m., a couple dozen protesters had gathered at Washington Square Park, 451 S. State, in response to the death of George Floyd, who died in Minnesota in police custody after an officer knelt on his neck for more than 8 minutes.
In contrast to Monday's organized protest, no formal gathering had been scheduled.
Tuesday's demonstration came days after an organized protest that began peacefully Saturday in Salt Lake City erupted in chaos as the day wore on. A weeklong 8 p.m. curfew was put in place Monday by Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall.
