MAGNA — Police have taken a second man into custody while investigating the shooting of a 29-year-old Tuesday.

Guillermo Herrera, 18, of Millcreek, has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Friday evening, according to Unified Police Department.

The 29-year-old man was found in the parking lot of Reams Food Store with a gunshot wound at 2:15 Tuesday morning.

Police had spoken to the victim earlier in the evening after he had been reported as being suspicious because he was acting "odd," and staring at people, according to Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray.

The man got into a verbal dispute with another group at a 7-Eleven, 7200 W. 3500 South, the affidavit states. That altercation then continued at the nearby Ream’s parking lot.

Juan Ledezma Avila, 18, was arrested after a witness provided police with information on the shooting and evidence was left behind at the convenience store, according to Gray.

The police affidavit on Tuesday stated that there was at least one other person involved in the shooting, but "Juan refused to reveal the name of the other involved suspect despite video surveillance of Juan and this unidentified male entering the (7-Eleven) together prior to the shooting," the affidavit states.

Additional information, such as how investigators took Herrera into custody, was not immediately available.
