Woman shot, killed in Salt Lake City apartment

REDWOOD ROAD — Salt Lake police are investigating the shooting death of a woman that took place on Saturday morning.

The incident was called in as a burglary in process at 7:41 a.m., according to Salt Lake Police Sgt. Brandon Shearer. While officers were en route to the scene, Apartments on the Green at 1211 N. Redwood Road, the call was updated to “shots fired,” Shearer said.

A woman with a gunshot wound was discovered in an apartment and transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, he said.

Officials did not immediately release additional information about the woman, including her name or age. They do not yet know if anyone lived in the home with her.

It is unknown if the homicide was random or motivated.

An investigation is ongoing.
