MIDVALE — A woman who was shot Tuesday night after a domestic dispute with her boyfriend died Wednesday from her injuries, police say.
Shaina Bigby, 27, of Taylorsville, died as a result of a gunshot wound she suffered to the head, according to police. Her boyfriend, 40-year-old Cameron Lundgren, of Midvale, was arrested Wednesday for investigation of murder and felony discharge of a firearm, according to a news release from the Unified Police Department.
Officers responded to 199 W. 8600 South Tuesday around 11:45 p.m. on a report of an attempted suicide. When they arrived, they received some inconsistent statements as well as some “disconcerting” statements from some people who were at the home, police said.
Violent crimes detectives were called to the scene and opened an investigation that revealed a domestic dispute occurred between Bigby and Lundgren before she was shot, police said.
Police later determined the gunshot wound Bigby suffered was “highly unlikely to be self-inflicted” like Lundgren had said, according to a probable cause statement. The bullet entered her head from back to front and right to left, according to the statement.
The case is now being investigated as a homicide, police said. Lundgren was ordered by a judge to be held without bail.
