SALT LAKE CITY — Oliver Dunn wrapped up his third year with the University of Utah baseball team on a high note and received multiple postseason awards.

Within the Pac-12, Dunn was named to the All-Conference Team, which is the second time he has been honored by the Pac-12. He was previously named an All-Conference honorable mention last season.

Only nine players have ever been named to the All-Conference team in Utah baseball history. Most recently, Dashawn Keirsey Jr. was named to the All-Conference first team for the third time in his career following the 2018 season.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Oliver," head coach Bill Kinneberg said in a prepared statement. "He had such a good year offensively and defensively for us on the field. I'm proud of the way he came to the ballpark every single day and played the game correctly."

Dunn was also named a third team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. Only three other players in program history have been named All-Americans. In 2017, Dallas Carroll was named to the third team, C.J. Cron received first-team honors in both 2010 and 2011, and Ryan Khoury was also a first-team player after the 2006 season.

As a junior, Dunn was a starter in all 49 games this season and saw action in 153 out of the 155 games throughout his career.

Dunn put his name at the top of most offensive statistics as he led the team in batting average (.366), on base percentage (1.017), runs (45) and hits (71), as well as doubles and triples with a combined total of seven.

As an infielder, Dunn recorded only six errors at second base and ended the year with a .972 fielding percentage.

Dunn’s strongest game at the plate came in the final series of the season against UC Davis. In the first game, two of his three hits were doubles as he helped to lift the Utes to an 8-0 win.

In the field, Dunn had six assists against Cal earlier in the season and four putouts against Washington State a couple of weeks later.

Between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Dunn’s batting average improved from .319 to .366, and he has seen a consistent increase in runs and hits over the course of his time with the team.

Looking ahead to his senior year, Dunn has the potential to once again be a consistent player for the Utes to carry them into the 2020 season.
