SALT LAKE CITY — If ever there were a time to be looking for a job in Utah, this past year was it. Across the nation, unemployment was down and businesses everywhere were hiring.
Forbes created a ranking in collaboration with Statista to identify the best large employers in America, ranking University of Utah Health as one of their top companies. The research was designed to ascertain the businesses most well-liked by their employees.
“We believe nothing is more important than patient care,” Noman Khan, University of Utah Health spokesman, told KSL.com. “But we know that in order to offer the best possible experience for our patients, we must ensure our faculty and staff are fully engaged. This award is a win-win for everyone. We know if our employees are happy, our patients will benefit.”
This year marked the second year the hospital has made it onto the list, according to a University of Utah Health press release. They are also one of only two Utah organizations to qualify and are ranked 11th in the nation in the Health and Social category.
Forbes and Statista aggregated data by asking 50,000 employees who work for large companies in the United States to assess their employers, according to the press release. Each company’s score was evaluated through direct employee review and through a study on public perception.
“University of Utah Health believes in a collaborative culture that promotes groundbreaking innovation, research and patient care,” Khan said. “The dynamic atmosphere at U. of U. Health is an exciting and rewarding environment in which to work. There is nothing more important than health and our employees feel the great responsibility and privilege of caring for people and improving lives.”
University of Utah Health seeks to obtain a good company culture through heavy opportunity for advancement, according to Khan. It also seeks to create an environment where employees feel heard and can express their views.
“U of U Health also has multiple management training programs which ensures our leaders are well trained and that their teams are working to the best of their abilities,” Khan added.
The hospital hopes to continue its title into next year and maintain a positive environment for employees.
“This is a remarkable accomplishment,” Gordon Crabtree, CEO for University of Utah Health, said in the press release. “By achieving this recognition two years in a row, we have proven our commitment to a collaborative culture and breakthrough discoveries in science, health and technology.”
