SALT LAKE CITY — Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren is scheduled to make another campaign stop in Utah next week.

Warren, D-Massachusetts, will host a free "organizing event" on April 17 at The Depot in The Gateway mall as part of a three-state swing that includes stops in South Carolina and Colorado.

Doors are set to open at 5 p.m. for the 6 p.m. gathering that is open to the public. No tickets are required, but those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP online or by contacting the campaign at info@elizabethwarren.com.

Even before she formally joined what's now a crowded field of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, Warren held a fundraiser at a downtown Salt Lake City restaurant last summer.

Utah has not voted for a Democrat for president since 1964, but nearly every major candidate came to the state in 2016 before the Republican and Democratic parties' presidential preference votes during March caucus meetings.

Next year, Utah will return to holding a statewide presidential primary election, on Super Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Lawmakers funded the election in part to help ensure candidates will continue to pay attention to the state.
