WEST VALLEY CITY — An 80-year-old man has died from his injuries after his grandson allegedly pushed him, causing the elderly man to fall and hit his head, police said.
Sherral Northrup, 80, was involved in an argument with his 35-year-old grandson, Jason Northrup, that took place about 11:35 a.m. Tuesday near 3000 West and 2900 South, West Valley City police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said.
At some point, the confrontation became physical, and Jason Northrup allegedly pushed his grandfather, according to Vainuku. Sherral Northrup then fell and hit his head, Vainuku said. He was taken to a hospital after the fight where he later died from his injuries.
There were some other family members at the home when the fight took place, but no one else was injured, she added.
Jason Northrup was arrested for investigation of felony homicide, according to Vainuku.
