MAGNA — A 17-year-old boy has been killed in a drive-by shooting in Magna late Saturday night, police confirmed.

The shooting took place near 8073 W. 3380 South at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Unified Police Department officials said. One 17-year-old male was killed. Another 17-year-old was transported to a hospital in good condition, according to UPD Detective Ken Hansen.

Suspects driving a white sedan, possibly a Volkswagen Jetta or a Kia, turned a corner and opened fire on the victims, Hansen said.

"It's one of those things that happens really fast," he said.

Police believe the shooting may be gang-related, Hansen added.

Investigators had brought lights in Saturday night to search the scene for spent casings in order to collect evidence for the case, Hansen said. The search was set to continue on Sunday.

No arrests had been made in connection with the shooting as of Sunday morning, Hansen said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
