MAESER, Uintah County — Two men are in critical condition after a shooting in Maeser Thursday morning, according to Uintah County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Ed Spann.

Police responded to reports of shots fired around 6:30 a.m. Uintah County Sheriff's Office said two adult males, ages 18 and 19, were shot multiple times following an altercation at a residence located at 666 S. 2500 West.

Before officers arrived, one wounded man made his way down the street from where the shooting happened and was picked up by a "concerned citizen." He was taken to Ashley Regional Medical Center in critical condition, Spann said.

The other wounded man left the scene in a black Pontiac Grand Am and attempted to drive himself to the hospital, officials said. The wounded man then crashed into a pole at the intersection of 2000 West and 500 North, according to Spann.

Police found the car had a bullet hole by the gas tank and in the rear door. The man in the Pontiac was also transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Police said they took a 21-year-old man who was found at the scene of the altercation into custody.

The identities of those involved in the incident were not disclosed.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting and working to get multiple search warrants. The details surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
