SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Senate Democrats on Monday announced their leaders in the state Legislature for the next two years.
Sens. Gene Davis, D-Salt Lake City; Karen Mayne, D-West Valley City; and Luz Escamilla, D-Salt Lake City, were re-elected to their positions as Senate minority leader, minority whip and assistant minority whip, respectively.
Sen. Jani Iwamota, D-Holladay, will replace Sen. Jim Dabakis, D-Salt Lake City, as minority caucus manager.
Utah House Democrats have not yet elected their minority leaders because multiple races for seats in the House remain too close to call before election results are certified Nov. 22, said Jon Hennington, spokesman for the Utah State Democratic Party.
State Republican lawmakers elected their leadership in both houses last week.
