SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Attorneys are considering merging two lawsuits in which victims of sexual abuse by a teacher are suing the Davis School District.
The Standard-Examiner reports that the Utah Attorney General's Office filed a document in U.S. District Court on Monday proposing that the civil suits be merged to streamline court processes.
The two lawsuits have been filed in connection to former Davis High School English teacher Brianne Altice, who pleaded guilty in 2015 to three charges of forcible sexual abuse after having sex with three 16- and 17-year-old students in 2013. She is serving up to 30 years in prison.
The two lawsuits allege Altice, the district and various district and school officials violated their constitutional rights.
