SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police are now asking for the public's help to find a car they believe was used in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy.

Paris Gustin, of Salt Lake City, was inside a Honda with two other juveniles about 4 a.m. Tuesday when shots were fired from someone in another vehicle in the Fairpark neighborhood near 600 North and 1100 West.

After the shooting, a vehicle believed to be a white Nissan Sentra with fog lights, a small rear spoiler and tinted back passenger and rear windows sped away. Surveillance video in the Rose Park area recorded the vehicle police believe was involved in the shooting. Images from that video were released Thursday to the public.

"It is possible the suspect may live in that general area," a Salt Lake police statement said.

Gustin was in the front passenger seat of the Honda when shots were fired from behind his vehicle and he was hit, according to police. Prior to the shooting, there was some sort of confrontation between passengers in the two vehicles.

Police found the Honda stopped on American Avenue near 960 South and 1100 West. The teen was dead when officers arrived.

Friends and family members held a vigil for Paris at Liberty Park on Wednesday night.

Anyone with information about the missing car or the shooting can call police at 801-799-3000.
