SALT LAKE CITY — Jealousy over a girl may have led to the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Salt Lake man, according to a newly unsealed search warrant.

On April 7, Jose Javier "Jay Jay" Fernandez, 18, was shot and killed in a bedroom at 211 N. Cornell St. (1550 West). An autopsy determined he was shot seven times. Two of the bullet wounds were fatal, court documents state.

William Armstrong P-Graham, 20, of Salt Lake City, James Wellah Williams, 20, of Salt Lake City, and Gaethan "Synn" Laguerre, 25, of Sandy, were each charged in 3rd District Court with murder, a first-degree felony; aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; three counts of felony discharge of a firearm resulting in serious injury, a first-degree felony; and obstructing justice, a second-degree felony.

P-Graham allegedly had a "beef" with Fernandez, according to police.

In a search warrant affidavit unsealed Thursday in 3rd District Court, Williams told investigators that P-Graham had issues with Fernandez "because Fernandez allegedly slept with P-Graham's girlfriend."

Between 4 and 6 p.m. on April 7, P-Graham talked with his girlfriend on Facebook and his cellphone, the warrant states.

"P-Graham believed she had slept with Mr. Fernandez. She denied the accusation, but he wouldn't accept it and stated he was going to confront Mr. Fernandez about the relationship," according to the warrant.

Salt Lake police were called to the shooting about 7:30 p.m.

Laguerre told police that P-Graham provided him with a 9 mm handgun and that P-Graham used a .380 handgun, the warrant states. After Williams got three young children out of the house, Laguerre and P-Graham went into the bedroom where Fernandez was sleeping, the charges state.

Laguerre told detectives that P-Graham shot at Fernandez first, according to the affidavit.

Eight .380 shell casings were recovered from the room and two 9 mm casings were recovered, the warrant states.

After P-Graham was arrested, he had several phone conversations with his mother from the Salt Lake County Jail. In one conversation, he gave his mother the login information to his Facebook page and told her to change the password so the girlfriend can't "change my (stuff). She's trying to ruin things," the affidavit states.

During another phone conversation with a woman who police believe P-Graham had originally asked to provide an alibi, she "tells him she thought (the girlfriend) had 'teased his brain' to get P-Graham to kill Mr. Fernandez," the warrant states.

The search warrant seeks both current and deleted information from P-Graham's Facebook page.

A preliminary hearing for P-Graham is scheduled for September.
