ALTAMONT, Duchesne County — The man who died in a target shooting accident Tuesday and the man who shot him have been identified.

Mountain Home resident Rocky Mecham, 61, was marking targets for two others at L.C. Ranch when there was a communication error and Altamont resident Greg Timothy, 64, accidentally shot him, according to Lt. Jeremy Curry with the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office.

Mecham was taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner's office. Police say the incident appears to be accidental.
