(KSL News) We're getting more information about that freak accident in American Fork Canyon.

Here's what we've learned. A man and a woman were riding a side-by-side ATV on a trail in the Mineral Basin area.

They were coming around a corner and didn't see that a tree had fallen across part of the trail and ran into it. A branch went about three inches into the woman's stomach.

Fortunately, there were two other men on a Jeep in the area who came across them shortly after the accident.

They had a satellite phone and Global Positioning System and were able to call for help and provide search and rescue with the exact location.

The woman was in good condition when she was flown to an area hospital.
