HURRICANE — Police are asking for help to locate a man who has been missing since Monday night.

Ryan Mertlich was last seen heading home from a family member's house in Washington City, according to the Hurricane City Police Department. Investigators said they aren't sure whether Mertlich made it back to his home safely and then left again, or never arrived.

"At this time we have made attempts to contact him by phone with no success," a statement from the Hurricane City Police Department reads. "His family and friends have not heard from him since then. A Bureau of Land Management officer has driven through Warner Valley and did not locate any signs of him or his vehicle."

Police said family members told them Mertlich occasionally likes to drive through Warner Valley on his way home, so they are conducting an aerial search of the area with help from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Mertlich drives a 1990 Geo Tracker with camo paint, according to police. Anyone with information about his location can contact the Hurricane City Police Department by calling 435-627-4999.
