SALT LAKE CITY — The Federal Bureau of Investigation has finished it’s investigation into the courtroom shooting of Siale Angilau.
At approximately 9:25 a.m. on April 21, 2014, Siale Angilau — aka "C-Down" — was shot multiple times in the chest by a deputy U.S. marshal after Angilau “rushed a witness seated in the witness box in an aggresive manner,” said Special Agent William Facer of the FBI.
Angilau later died at a local hospital, and no one else was injured during the incident.
According to William Facer of the FBI, the investigation came to the following conclusion:
“Angilau left his seat, grabbed a pen, vaulted toward the witness and was shot four times. There were only four rounds discharged from the deputy’s handgun. There is no evidence to suggest that Angilau was shot while on the ground.”
Facer also said the identity of the deputy marshal who shot Angilau will not be released as it “serves no legitimate public interest.”
The incident was investigated by the FBI and reviewed by the Department of Justice, which has declined prosecution in the matter, Facer said. No further investigation will be conducted, and the FBI considers the matter closed.
