SALT LAKE CITY — For nearly three years, Suzanne Carlile has answered questions from KSL.com users and shared her medical advice as "Nurse Suzy" in the "Mommy Medicine" column.
The series has included a variety of subjects over the years, ranging from health and beauty to mental health and first aid. The topics of the top 5 most-viewed "Mommy Medicine" articles range from controversial, to gross, to downright weird.
No. 5: “Essential oils: good or bad?” — 56,901 page views
Discussions about the effectiveness and safety of essential oil use can become very emotional very quickly. Parties on both sides of the issue are typically passionate about their beliefs. In this January 2013 article, Nurse Suzy explains the pros and cons of essential oil use. In a follow-up article, “Concerns over essential oils explained”, she shares her opinion on the practice.

Nobody likes warts, and the worst part about them is how hard they can be to get rid of. This March 2014 article from Nurse Suzy explains what a wart is, the different types of warts that are out there, and three ways to get rid of them.

No. 3: “Skin tags: What they are and how to remove them” — 71,625 page views Skin tags can be both unsightly and annoying, but they’re usually not harmful, according to Nurse Suzy's March 2013 article. If you do want your skin tags removed, however, this article shares a few safe and easy ways to do so.
No. 2: “Getting rid of toenail fungus” — 115,080 page views
Fungal infections of the toenails are not uncommon, but they can be tough to treat — not to mention expensive. In this May 2012 article, Nurse Suzy shares tips on how to avoid getting a fungal infection, what you can do if you have one, and when it’s time to see a doctor.
No. 1: “Treating sore, cracked and stinky feet” — 2,503,690 page views
This September 2011 article is one of the most popular ever posted on KSL.com; and with over 2.5 million page views, it is the most-viewed article to come out of Deseret Connect, the site KSL.com uses to gather contributing writer content.
In the article, Nurse Suzy explains a treatment she came up with to help heal the calloused, cracked and sometimes stinky feet many of her patients were dealing with. The at-home procedure involves two main ingredients: Listerine and shaving cream.
