SALT LAKE CITY — Television and radio show host Glenn Beck said in an interview Tuesday that he regrets some of the things he said when he hosted a show on Fox News.
Beck hosted a self-titled TV show on Fox News from 2009-11 before leaving to create TheBlaze TV, a subscription-based Internet TV program. While at Fox News, Beck became a polarizing character in the political realm, but has become one of the biggest media personalities in the last decade.
In an interview with Fox News' Megyn Kelly, Beck reflected on his two-year show, saying there were things he wished he could do over.
"I remember it as an awful lot of fun and that I made an awful lot of mistakes, and I wish I could go back and be more uniting in my language," Beck told Kelly. "I think I played a role, unfortunately, in helping tear the country apart.
"I didn't realize how really fragile the people were," he continued. "I thought we were kind of more in it together."

Beck said instead of highlighting all the problems in the country he should have looked at more of the "uniting principles."
"Now I look back and I realize if we could have talked about the uniting principles a little bit more instead of the problems," he said. "I think I would look back at it more fondly. But that's only my role."
Political polarization continues to grow since the 1980s, according to a recent study, but whether Beck actually played a role in that is not known.
Prior to Beck's comments on his time with Fox News, Beck discussed an open letter to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, saying Cuomo is attempting to move the state to the far-left.
