(KSL News) -- The Midvale Fire Department says some abandonned chemical barrels leaking near a canal are not a safety threat.
The barrels are located at 6900 S. 300 West. Hazardous Materials teams from four fire departments secured the barrels this afternoon.
Crews say each barrel held 55 gallons of solvent used to paint vinyl. Only a few of the drums were leaking.
The crews removed their contents and placed them in other containers so they could be safely carried away.
