SALT LAKE CITY — Easter weekend is upon us and with it comes colored eggs, bunnies and loads of candy. If at any point during the Easter egg hunts you need a break, here are five alternative non-Easter activities going on in Utah.

Lindsey Stirling concert

Lindsey Stirling has been described as "the dancing violinist." And it's a perfect description. The LDS musician went viral with her dubstep, electronic violin music and modern dance style while she was living in Provo attending BYU. She had the No. 8 most viewed YouTube video in 2012 and has competed on "America's Got Talent." Her crazy violin skills and dancing are almost hypnotizing. Let's just say, she puts on an amazing and entertaining performance.

She will be performing at In The Venue in Salt Lake City Friday at 7 p.m. You won't be disappointed.

The Festival of Colors

The Holi Festival of Colors at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork is probably one of the biggest events of the year in Utah County. It is a really exciting (although messy) event. If you haven't been, you need to go. This is one annual event that I have made a tradition. You get to experience another culture, Indian food, a burning effigy and throwing colored chalk everywhere. Literally everywhere.

In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring. The event will be held March 30-31 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Colors are thrown every two hours. This event is fine for families, but I probably wouldn't recommend letting children under the age of five participate in the chalk throwing.

Fictionist concert

#Poll

Originating as a local band from Provo, Fictionist has been garnering attention since 2008. The alternative rock band signed with Atlantic Records in 2011 and have been touring ever since. Their music has been described as the "mellifluous meeting of indie rock and folk/pop." It's chill, soothing mood music.

Fictionist will perform at the Velour in Provo Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets can be bought online or at the door.

The St. George Art Festival

If you enjoy local art and warm weather, then St. George should be your destination spot for the weekend. The 34th annual St. George Art Festival is taking place, and this year's featured artist is Utahn Scott Yelonek. Along with displaying breathtaking local art, the event will also have food, live entertainment, and a splash pad and facepainting for the kids.

The festival will be held March 29-30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The art will be displayed at the St. George Town Square on Main Street between Tabernacle St. and 100 South. Go and support local artists.

Mika concert

Mika is a fun, poppy, makes-you-want-to-dance artist that sounds like a modern version of Queen. The 29-year-old British pop star puts on a really fun performance with his super-catchy musical style. I would be lying if I said I haven't listened to some of his songs on repeat.

Mika will perform at In The Venue in Salt Lake City on Saturday, March 30, at 8 p.m.
