PROVO — Nonstop flights between Provo and the Phoenix-Mesa area began on Allegiant Friday, as flights between Denver and St. George were announced.

The flights will arrive in Provo at 4 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays and depart at 5 p.m. The flight is about 90 minutes.

The flights from Provo began a little more than a month after Frontier airlines discontinued service between Provo and Denver on Jan. 7.

An airline representative said at the time the cut was due to the market not performing up to market standards.

Also on Friday, SkyWest Airlines announced that it would add service to Denver and cut flights to Los Angeles out of the St. George Airport.

The once-daily flights to Denver, which will be United, will begin June 6. To accommodate the new schedule, SkyWest service to Los Angeles will be cut beginning April 9.

The flights, about 105 minutes, will depart Denver at 1:30 p.m. daily, and depart St. George at 3:40 daily. United customers flying out of St. George will accrue Mileage Plus points, according to the airline.
