ST. GEORGE — Four people were injured Friday evening in two different accidents on I-15 in St. George that caused major delays on the freeway.

The first accident occurred on I-15 in St. George near milepost 36. A blue Cadillac was traveling southbound in the left lane and began to hydroplane while trying to pass a motor home.

The Cadillac struck the motor home, doing minor damage, and spun into the guardrail on the median side. A blue Jeep Cherokee was unable to stop and struck the door of the driver of the Cadillac.

Two were transported to the hospital in serious condition, and the driver of the Cadillac was flown in critical condition to Intermountain Healthcare in St. George.

All parties involved were wearing seat belts.

The second accident occurred as a result of slowing on the freeway due to the first accident. A semitruck pulling a box trailer was stopped in traffic near milepost 37. An Acura braked and swerved to the left to avoid the truck, but struck a trailer tire with its right rear bumper.

The Acura had come to a stop on the left rear side of the semi trailer when a Pontiac G6 came upon the accident and braked, going into a counter-clockwise spin and striking the left rear of the semitruck with its passenger side.

The passenger in the Pontiac was critically injured and was flown by Life Flight to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The driver of the Pontiac was taken to Valley View Hospital in Cedar City with minor injuries.

There were no other injuries in the crashes, and all parties involved were wearing seatbelts. Drugs and alcohol were not involved, police say.
