Cardboard Boat Regatta

Davis County high school students participated in the annual Clearfield High School Physics Invitational Cardboard Boat Regatta on Wednesday. Each year students create a boat made of cardboard and test it at the regatta. Competitors are given the chance to sail the boat across Willard Bay North Marina.

Twilight Concert Series tickets

Individual and season tickets went on sale Friday.

Season tickets, which cover each of the nine concerts, are sold for $35, and concert tickets are $5 each.

Tickets can be purchased online at 24tix.com or at all Graywhale locations.

Rocky Shores exhibit

Hogle Zoo's newest residents were getting comfortable in their surroundings as their exhibit opened to the public.

The Rocky Shores exhibit, an $18 million new exhibit, opened Friday. The exhibit debuted a dozen new animals, including polar bears, grizzly bears, otters and seals. The site will also serve as a new home for several bald eagles.

Free fishing day

Utah officials say people can go fishing Saturday without a license.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is authorizing the Free Fishing Day as a promotional event.

All other rules in the state's fishing guidebook still apply.

The DWR says it stocked community ponds with channel catfish for easy fishing.

Wildlife officials say Saturday is a good time to introduce children to fishing. They will hold a series of educational events.

Westminster graduates largest class

Westminster College will graduate its largest class with more than 900 students on Saturday at the Maverik Center. Retiring college president Michael Bassis, will present the diplomas at his final ceremony.

Approximately 562 undergraduates and 385 graduate students will participate in this year’s commencement.

In his 10 years at the college, Bassis has seen the graduating class grow from 586 to 947.

I-15 CORE closures

Construction crews on the Utah County I-15 Corridor Expansion are scheduled to reduce southbound I-15 in Orem to three lanes from 1600 North to 400 South as early as Monday morning.

Utah Department of Transportation crews are also scheduled to close the Orem 800 North interchange for approximately six weeks beginning as early as Tuesday.

The southbound lane restriction is scheduled to last up to two weeks and will allow crews to continue concrete paving. A similar lane restriction on northbound I-15 is scheduled to begin in the same area as early as June 10. The 800 North closure is the second long-term interchange closure this summer in the Orem area. The 1600 North interchange recently reopened after a 30-day closure.

Antelope by Moonlight Bike RideThe Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride will take place the night of July 6. The 19th annual family-friendly, non- competitive bike ride starts at 10 p.m. at the Antelope Island Marina and is lit by the full moon. Those interested can register online at daviscountyutah.gov/go/moonlight/. Registration fees before June 22 are $22 for those over age 14 and $17 for those younger than 14. After June 22, registration is $27 for those over 14 and $22 for riders younger than 14.

Registration covers park entry, a collector's T-shirt and refreshments (served until midnight). On- site registration starts at 7:30 p.m. on July 6.
