SALT LAKE CITY — Two men have been arrested in connection with a double stabbing at Pioneer Park on Wednesday.

Police were called just after 4 p.m. to the southeast corner of the park, 300 West and 400 South, and arrived to find three men lying on the ground with injuries. Two had puncture wounds to their stomachs and the other had been punched, according to police.

Investigators eventually learned that the three men — all frequent visitors to Pioneer Park and well known to officers — had allegedly gotten in a fight over alcohol. A 41-year-old and a 49-year-old man were stabbed.

The alleged stabber gave his knife to another man who was still at scene when police arrived. That man initially denied knowing anything about the incident, investigators said.

Kevin Hansen, 42, was treated at a local hospital and then booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of two counts of aggravated assault. Trent Peterson, 42, was booked into jail for investigation of obstruction of justice and outstanding warrants.
