SALT LAKE CITY — A search is underway in downtown Salt Lake for a man who stabbed two men and assaulted another Wednesday afternoon in Pioneer Park.
Just before 4 p.m., an altercation between four men in their mid-40s — all believed to be homeless — resulted in two men stabbed and another sustaining a head injury, police said. None of the injuries are life-threatening.
"We don't know exactly what caused the altercation to begin with," Salt Lake City Police detective Josh Ashdown said.
The altercation occurred in the southeast corner of the park at 300 West and 400 South, Ashdown said.
The attacker got away before anyone could get a good description of him.
"Basically all we know right now is it's possibly a male who's Native American, in his 40s; and that's all we have at this point," Ashdown said.
The victims were transported to nearby hospitals but are expected to be OK.
