SALT LAKE CITY -- Organizers of a gingerbread competition in Norway were impressed when a family walked in last week carrying a creation that "looked like a huge cathedral."
The woman who create it, Elin Lundegård, explained that it's a model of the LDS temple in Salt Lake City.
The Stavanger Aftenblad reports that to make the replica, Lundegård enlarged a photo of the actual temple on a projector and created a simplified blueprint. It took several hours a day for about a week to finish the project, she said. She also noted that construction of the actual Salt Lake Temple took 40 years to complete.
"The original is a fascinating building, which we experienced two years ago," she told the Aftenblad. "We are Mormons, so this building means something to us."
The display is entered in a competition held annually in the Norwegian town of Stavanger. This is the third year Lundegård has entered the contest.
