Mary Richards reportingThe elderly woman who spent hours at the bottom of a manhole is suing. The suit says two companies owe her compensation for her injuries and emotional anguish.
71-year-old Irene Berrett spent hours at the bottom of the manhole before being rescued. She suffered broken bones and cracked ribs.
Her son Brit talked about the shock it caused their family.
Brit Berrett, son: "They've lived in South America, they've been mission presidents for the LDS Church, they've been all over the world and had harrowing experiences but you never would think your mother would fall though a manhole."
They are suing Albertsons and A-1 Septic Tank Services. The suit says the Berretts have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical expenses and are still suffering emotional distress.
