SALT LAKE CITY -- With plenty of precipitation keeping Utah's lakes and rivers full, the fishing promises to be fine this year.
On June 4, it will also be free.
All other fishing rules and guidelines will still apply, but no license will be required in order to legally fish.
The Division of Wildlife Resources will also be putting extra fish in some of Utah's lakes, reservoirs, and community fishing ponds.
"We'll stock the community fishing ponds with channel catfish before Free Fishing Day," said Warm Water Sport Fisheries Coordinator Drew Cushing on the DWR website . "We'll continue stocking the ponds with catfish until the temperatures cool in the fall. Then we'll start placing trout in the ponds."
Family friendly events in association with the Free Fishing Fay will also be held at ponds and lakes throughout the state, with activities, prizes and food available at some locations.
