SALT LAKE CITY – Gov. Gary Herbert thanked lawmakers for their work and said he'd see them soon for more work on a controversial open records bill.
Lawmakers, the governor told the House, "tackled some difficult issues, which is not unusual for Utah legislators."
The immigration issue especially, he said, "is very emotional and people have very passionate views on all sides."
Herbert said they would be back in special session in June to reconsider changes made to the Government Records Access and Management Act criticized by the media and members of the public.
He said he expected them to "come up with decent legislation" that would protect both the public's right to know and their privacy.
