SALT LAKE CITY -- Police say a driver listening to loud music didn't hear the sirens of an oncoming ambulance when he crashed into it Thursday.
The ambulance was responding to an emergency call, with lights and sirens on, as it went through the intersection at 900 East and 4500 South. That's when the driver of another car smashed into the ambulance.
Neither driver was hurt, but an EMT riding in the back of the ambulance was slightly injured.
Police say the driver of the car didn't even know the ambulance was coming. They say this should serve as a reminder to all drivers to be more alert on the road.
"Slow down coming into intersections," said Unified Police Officer Chris Christensen. "Turn your music down. Be cognizant of the other vehicles -- if they are slowing or stopping, there is a reason for it."
The driver of the car has not yet been cited.
