SALT LAKE CITY -- A trial date has been set for a man accused of killing a corrections officer. Wednesday morning, a judge said Curtis Allgier's trial will begin in May.
Allgier is accused of killing corrections officer Stephen Anderson in a 2007 escape attempt.
During Wednesday's hearing, Allgier's attorneys also asked the judge if he could cover up the prominent tattoos on his face, saying they are likely to prejudice the jury against him.
The judge said he would take the motion under advisement and make a decision at a later date.
However, the judge has already ruled the tattoos will not be covered up during sentencing if Allgier is convicted.
