(KSL News) -- Tons of uranium ore is starting to arrive in Utah.
The shipments, from Japan, are headed to the International Uranium's White Mesa Mill near Blanding.
Officials say the ore is here to be processed into nuclear fuel.
Environmental activists say the material is here to be stored. They worry, with these shipments from Japan, Utah is becoming a nuclear waste dumping ground, not just for the nation, but for the world.
The state department has certified the material coming into Utah is ore, not nuclear waste.
