SALT LAKE CITY -- An animal rights activist pleaded guilty to contempt of court Tuesday for refusing to testify about attacks on mink farms.

Friends of Jordan Halliday rallied silently outside, while Halliday admitted inside the courtroom that he disobeyed an order to testify before a grand jury.

The judge has the right to impose whatever sentence he sees fit.

Halliday's contempt charge stems from an investigation of the release of hundreds of minks in 2008.

Alex Hall and William Viehl both pleaded guilty in connection with the attacks and are serving time in prison.
