WEST VALLEY CITY -- Maverik Inc. will pay $600,000 a year for naming rights for the E Center in West Valley City. It also may get more city customers at its convenience stores.

The naming rights deal was announced June 8, but financial details were not released. The Salt Lake Tribune used public records requests to learn that nine days after the announcement, City Manager Wayne Pyle issued an executive order telling employees using city gas cards they can fill up at either government pumps or Maverik stations.

The city spends around $1 million a year for gasoline. Pyle says the city is supporting its business partner, and it won't cost any more since the city employees have to buy gasoline anyway.

Maverik will get its name on the E Center, exclusive advertising rights, and a concession outlet inside the 12,500-seat arena.
