SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City doesn't know what it will look like yet, but the city is announcing who will design its new public safety building.
The selection committee chose the locally based GSBS Architects along with the firm of McClaren, Wilson and Lawrie Inc, which has expertise in making buildings like this.
Senior Adviser Helen Langan says, "That's why we liked the combination these two firms brought as a team to the project."
Langan says the firms will go through a year-long design process, and members of the community will be allowed to offer their feedback on what the building should include
"They really put a lot of emphasis in engaging the community which is something that we wanted in Salt Lake City," she says.
Langan says the building may include a police and fire museum to attract visitors. The city hopes to start construction in early 2011.
