Zoo officials fighting to change fundraising requirements

(KSL News) Utah's Hogle Zoo is trying to soften a tough fundraising goal that it needs for improvements.

The Salt Lake County Council told zoo officials they can go ahead with a $65 million bond election this fall. But the council is requiring the zoo raise $20 million in private money first.

That requirement puts the entire deal in question because the dollar amount is so large.

The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that the council is considering a request from zoo officials this afternoon to relax the private fundraising requirement.
