West Jordan looks at raising taxes to fix roads

Andrew Adams reportingWest Jordan is considering a plan to improve its roads, and it would cost homeowners.

The city is considering whether to put $30 million into needed road upgrades. City Councilman Lyle Summers says streets like 9000 South need it.

"I think we've all driven around the city enough to know that there's numerous streets that are bad need of repair," Summers said.

Paying for it could mean a bond that would cost homeowners $109 more a year for 10 years on a $250,000 home.

But it's a difficult decision. The city is already looking at raising taxes and cutting its budget. In fact, there will only be half the money for a 4th of July fireworks show this summer.
